How we Train
Young swimmers will start in the teaching sessions, moving from widths to lengths as they gain technique and stamina. Once a swimmer has reached a required standard they will be invited to join a ‘squad’.
The squad system provides all swimmers with a clear pathway of a swimmer’s progression and gives individual swimmers with the opportunity to develop: the skills, fitness, speed and mental strength necessary to compete at the County Championships – assuming they have the desire and commitment to achieve these goals.

Senior Squad & Junior Squad
These swimmers will be working on competitive training programs best suited to their age and ability.

Development Squad
Swimmers improve their competitive techniques, stamina and speed.

Swim Skills 1 and 2
Introduces competitive swimming skills.

Otters, Sharks & Dolphins  focus on stroke skills in all 4 strokes.

See Training Times for full details of when each squad swims.

As they progress swimmers will learn skills for competition and will be encouraged to take part in time trials and club championships before progressing to galas and open meets.

Acceptance into all squads is by assessment and is reviewed each term through time trials and coaches review. The Head Coach, Daf Bourchier monitors all swimmers, encouraging them to achieve their potential.

The club has many long term members and they are encouraged to get involved in the coaching of younger swimmers, gaining skills and qualifications as well as valuable experience.
